The city of St.Gallen has a long tradition of brewing beer. As early as 820, St.Gallen had three breweries marked on the map of its Abbey District. The Schützengarten brewery was founded in 1779 and is today the oldest brewery in Switzerland. Still in the original location, Schützengarten is a successful, independent company and one of the most modern breweries in Switzerland. A visit to the brewery includes a visit to the beer bottle museum and a guided tour of the production plant. The participants experience the art of brewing in St.Gallen first hand. The guided tour is followed by a beer tasting in the cosy guesthouse.
