The city of St.Gallen is home to a renowned university (HSG) with 36 institutes and research centres, all conducting valuable research. The OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland), which focuses on teaching, research and continuing education, has locations in St.Gallen, Buchs and Rapperswil. Buchs is also home to the Berufs- und Weiterbildungszentrum Buchs (bzb) (Buchs Vocational and Further Education Centre). The University of St.Gallen’s SQUARE – an innovative space for new ways of thinking and experimentation – offers a new, future-oriented way of learning and sharing knowledge. Thanks to all of these centres of learning and expertise, and many others besides, our region is able to maintain its place at the forefront of innovation and knowledge transfer.

The Amt für Wirtschaft des Kantons St.Gallen (Office of Economic Affairs of the Canton of St.Gallen) ensures that the canton provides a dynamic and well-regarded ecosystem in which companies can develop and implement their innovations.
